Solar Electric

Photovoltaic

Photovoltaic (PV) is the technical word for solar panels that create electricity. Photovoltaic material, most commonly highly-purified silicon, converts sunlight directly into electricity. When sunlight strikes the material, electrons are dislodged, creating an electrical current which can be captured and harnessed. The photovoltaic materials are either machined individual solar cells or a single thin extruded layer, which make up a larger solar panel.

PV benefits the economy, the environment, and consumers. Our economic productivity depends largely on a constant and efficient source of energy. By using solar energy, our nation would not be as strongly affected by natural disasters that can lead to blackouts or to increasing energy prices from foreign providers. By going solar we will have access to local, clean, affordable, and reliable energy.

The long term affects of using solar energy also benefits our environment. With the constant news reports and articles found in today’s media channels regarding global warming, pollution, and the health affects of both, we are becoming more aware of how carbon emissions and hazardous waste is affecting the planet for the worse. Solar electric systems has the least negative effects on our environment, producing no greenhouse gases, air pollution, and which currently has an effective way of disposing of and recycling old PV panels.

Lastly, consumers are perhaps the greatest beneficiaries of solar energy. Below are a few of the benefits you can expect from investing in solar.

  • It is highly reliable and needs little maintenance.
  • It has virtually no environmental impact
  • It is produced domestically, strengthening our economy and reducing our trade deficit
  • It is module and thus flexible in terms of size and applications
  • It meets the demand and capacity challenges facing energy service providers
  • It helps energy service providers manage uncertainty and mitigate risk
  • It serves both form and function in a building

Not only do we benefit economically and environmentally– lower energy prices, less reliability on foreign energy providers, and small or no pollution or hazardous waste associated with the production of solar energy, but we also get the chance to take advantage of constant innovations being discovered in the solar industry. Consumers today have a variety of options to take into consideration when looking to invest in a PV system. Customization of your PV system is much easier today, ranging from size of the system to the placement of the panels on a building or home, PV companies are willing to work with their clients in order to deliver the best system specifically fit to meet their client’s needs.  Additionally, taking advantage of implementing solar equipment has become even easier with the rebates and incentives offered by the US Government for individuals or companies looking to install and or to implement energy efficient products throughout their home and businesses. With the rebates and incentives offered, the amount of money saved by switching to solar energy, and the little to no maintenance involved with PVs, consumers would be making a smart cost effective investment.
